Today I’m starting a short series of posts on videos about what lies ahead in the near future in terms of the use of artificial intelligence. The topics are very timely, and I think they will convince you to think about the fact that human managers will soon be replaced by robot managers, endowed with unmatched abilities to influence people and find solutions to organizational problems much more effectively than the best managers.
The first video talks about how powerful the combination of artificial intelligence and a quantum computer will be. The film tells the story of the development of quantum physics and its use in computing technology. If it were possible to make a device that could put the principle of superposition into practice on large data sets, calculations would be performed incomparably faster.
Although IBM succeeded in building the IBM QUBIT computer as early as 2001, calculations using this technology still face a number of problems due to the instability of quantum states. Subsequent research in 2007 at Yale University showed that greater stability could be achieved with this type of solution.
Subsequent years brought even more success. In 2013, Google and NASA joined forces and created the d-wave 2 computer. In 2019, Google created a processor called Sycamore, which can perform calculations hundreds of thousands of times faster than traditional computers. Two years later, IBM showed the dawn System 1, which is also based on quantum computing. And at this point in history comes… artificial intelligence in the form of the GPT Chat.
On the one hand, language models like Chat GPT can generate statements about the world, but have a hard time telling what is true and what is not. On the other hand, quantum computers have a remarkable ability to assess the reliability of information generated by language models through their enormous computing power.
What will result from the combination of such powerful technologies? See in this video:
